One card a week 14

lately, something really got my attention: peer pressure. Not on me, I am to wild for that hahaha, but on my pupils, or even in general. This subject came in several conversations I had… So it made me ponder: why don’t I feel this pressure?

I am completely deprived of contest spirit… completely… since as long as I remember. I just don’t care about winning. I don’t see life as a competition either. I don’t try to be popular or even part of a group. I may have tried as a teenager, a couple of months, and it just crushed me. So when I realised it wasn’t made for me, I decided to walk on my own path, without caring about others… it wasn’t the easy way, especially in my high standard high school… but I wanted to go to university anyway, no need of high grades, or even letters of appreciation from anyone (I love France for that!) as the university was in my home city… no probs! I decided to study to get my high school degree and not to please my teachers… bad bad grades all year long, but pretty good ones for the exam, I passed without any problems.

Thing is, I am far better when left alone to deal with things. I went to study in Spain for my master degree. I didn’t go to the University there, I ‘only’ had to write a thesis on a subject given to me by my researches director… who I only saw three time that year, plus the day I passed my master’s degree, which I got easily. Loved that work of researches, loved that freedom. A few years later, when I studied to be a shool teacher, I had a 4 month old baby, worked full time… Still, I passed.

That is who I am: the freer the better. As long as I see an interest in what I am doing, or love what I am doing, then I will give my best. Not to impress anyone, but because I want to. This is something I like in my job: I am free to organise as I want, as long as my pupils learn what they are supposed to. I am free to choose the material I use, the way I teach. That’s probably one of the reasons I keep looking for new ways, new challenges.

Anyway, here is your challenge for this week:

quote: « When you come to a point where you have no need to impress anybody, your freedom will begin.”

pattern: fiore

Here are the rules of the challenge:

  • Each thursday, I’ll give you a quote and a pattern to play with. You can use both, you can use only one of them, it’s up to you.
  • You have till the next wednesday to make your card and share it with us in the facebook group (just ask to be added, and I will open the doors wide open to you )
  • The goal of this challenge it just to offer yourself a time to have fun with pens and cards, to ponder on words, to enjoy a ME time. We tend to forget about ourselves so easily! And sharing is such a beautiful thing to experiment in our life!

This week quote is actually my new moto…

I tried, I really did try to mute myself and behave the way I knew I would have blended with everybody. Thing is, I am who I am. I have values I stand for, and I really do try to ponder what I say and what I believe in…

Life taught me lessons the hard way, and I cherish those lessons, as they made me who I am. It wasn’t an easy process, it was a painful, thoughtful, growing path. I do what I feel I have to do, and I do it heartfully. Sometimes people appreciate it, sometimes they don’t. But I keep being myself.

Being myself was in fact a really freeing process. I do not try or even think to please people, to follow the new trend. I am just being myself, and I live it rather peacefully…. I do not feel any pressure, I just follow my heart and do what I feel is the right thing.

I also know that sometimes, what we do is like a wave: it softly reaches one person then another, and so on. We just don’t really know who will be touched, how deep, how far… So I really do think twice before I do or say anything that might hurt people… But in the end of the day, I will do what I feel is the right thing, even if I send a wave that will come back to me. Be this is who I am. And I am not scared to face what I do or say. Integrity is the value I held the highest I think. So there is nothing to be ashamed for. And the waves I make are most of the time soft, caring waves… Why should I be scared? I am happy to send them and to have them back!

So this week, free yourself! Be who you are, truly are, and make waves you’ll be happy to have come back to you.

Anyway, here is this week challenge:

We all experiment difficult times, where everything seems to loose its meaning. We then feel lost, drown, while we only have to let go and just let it happen. Then, when it stops and life becomes more peaceful, we see life a different way, we are free of all this negativity.

Well, I have to admit that really depends on the kind of difficulty we have to go through. Most of the time, the cleansing is effective. But sometimes, we only feel empty. It’s up to us to being able to step back and see what these difficulties can bring us, and not what they took us. Not an easy task, but a task that can change everything.

Anyway, here is this week’s challenge:

quote: « Life sometimes takes you into troubled waters – not to drown you, but to cleanse you. »

We often see articles or blog posts about finding your true self, or your path, or your space, or where you belong… Thing is, I don’t really think that life is about finding our self… We all are different, with a different stor, a different background, different dreams, and so on… so to me, trying to find myself following someone else’s path is a waste of time, of energy, of expectations… You will never find yourself trying to be someone else. It’s hopeless, as you are yourself already. Thing is, you don’t really know it, you don’t realize it.

To me, we don’t find ourselves (so it’s really useless to look for it!), we create ourselves. With each choice we make, each person we meet, each lesson we learn. We create who we are, who we want to be, who we need to be. We are responsible of who we are. We just need to acknoledge this responsability and the opportunity it gives us to be whoever we want. We create ourselves. So I focus on that, not on a neverending quest. One step at a time.

Quote: « Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

One card a week 10

english-challenge

This month is a difficult one for me, as last year I was with my daughter while DIGP was taking her away. I had to watch her body surrender while her mind was fighting till the end. It was probably the worst month of my entire life. So painful. And I have to deal with all these feelings again a year later.

Thing is, even though it’s really painful, these memories are also great teachers. And this loss, the greatest loss of my whole life, as my daughter was everything to me, still hurt me but I also realise it changed me. It made me stronger, wiser, and more grateful for the little things. It made me more aware of what I wanted to do with this life experience. I found a will to go on, to share. It changed me as I now live for the both of us. And I love the idea that she gave me a bit of her way of seeing things, this little spark that adds a lot to my life.

So if it hurts so deeply to have lost her, it also gave me the strength and the will to fully live my life. It changed me.

So here is the challenge:

quote: « There are two types of pains, one that hurts you and the other that changes you.”

pattern: hi-cs

We often get caught by the tsunami of our everyday lives, its routine… then we loose the sight of what really matters, all those little things that bring us confort, something to ponder, happiness, that are meaningfull, powerful.

So this week, pay attention to the little things. You will sure see your world as a complete different one. And it requires nothing but some attention. Open your eyes, open your heart. I sure will do, as I feel the need to focus on the little things.

Anyway, here is challenge #9!

One card a week 08

english-challenge

When you know where you come from, who you are and what your values are, then no matter what happens, you are able to stand still. It’s not easy though to know yourself or even what you believe in. It’s not a matter of self esteem, not a matter of kindness, not even a matter of identity. It’s all about the strength of it. The depth of it…

I believe in a lot of things. I know who I am and where I come from. Life taught me so. I am lucky enough to have no real fear. Because I had to face all my deepest fears in the past. So I built myself strong roots, roots that define me as I am. And they are mine. My path is mine, my life is mine. I don’t need people to convince me I am wrong, or that I should try this or that to feel better, to be better. Because right now, I am enough. Self esteem? not really. I know my strengths, I also know too well my weaknesses. But it’s who I am. I had to accept myself as I was. I had to get rid of what I saw as useless thinking, beliefs, to go to the core of what I feel as my self. Anyway, I had the luck to go through all this process. And I still go through it, as we evolve each and every moment of our lifes. And I am ok with it. I keep on learning from everything, from everybody.

In life, we also have to face adversity, proselytism. But it shouldn’t matter that much if your roots are deep. You can also consider it as something to ponder, as another point of view on your situation… Or just see it as a soft breeze, or a wind refreshing your self…. thing is, when your roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind, because the core of who you are is firmly anchored. You may bend, you may even break a loose branch or two. But you will still stand there. Just be yourself, just be. Everything else is just a whisper.

So here is this week challenge:

  • Quote : « When the roots are deep there is no reason to fear the wind. »
  • Pattern: drupe

Here are the rules of the challenge:

  • Each thursday, I’ll give you a quote and a pattern to play with. You can use both, you can use only one of them, it’s up to you.
  • You have till the next wednesday to make your card and share it with us in the facebook group (just ask to be added, and I will open the doors wide open to you )

Life is not a peaceful walk from birth to death. And it’s fortunate. Just imagine a life without surprise, without bumps. It would lead to boredom, it would be so tasteless, so meaningless.

Life is full of feelings for you to experiment, full of people you come in and go out of it, full of experiences for you to make. It can be deep and rich if you allows it to be that way. There are those moments you feel so happy you want it to last forever. There are those moments you feel such a pain you want it to stop right now. There is nature, there are those special places, those times, those persons that make you think that life is worth living.

Anyway, when you realise that there is always something beyond what you live,  that even on bad days, you can find a little spark, you just have to go on. Because if that spark doesn’t change anything, it’s hope, it’s the sign that nothing is as dark as we think it is.

Life is not a peaceful walk…. but it’s such a journey!!

Anyway, here is the challenge for this week:

  • The quote: « When it rains, look for rainbows. When it’s dark, look for stars »
  • The pattern koaxil

Here are the rules of the challenge:

  • Each thursday, I’ll give you a quote and a pattern to play with. You can use both, you can use only one of them, it’s up to you.
  • You have till the next wednesday to make your card and share it with us in the facebook group (just ask to be added, and I will open the doors wide open to you )
  • The goal of this chalenge it just to offer yourself a time to have fun with pens and cards, to ponder on words, to enjoy a ME time. We tend to forget about ourselves so easily! And sharing is such a beautiful thing to experiment in our life!

Here is my card (yes, I made some mistakes while drawing the pattern, but hey, let’s pretend it add a little something  in it !)
